CPL conferences advance the discipline of leadership studies by identifying critical frontiers for research and bringing together leading scholars to examine them. The conferences unite leading academics from around the country and from around the world. Our March 2006 conference, Women and Leadership, examined a broad range of challenges facing women leaders in the courtroom, the boardroom elected office, and elsewhere. Our November 2006 conference, Intergroup Leadership, examined leadership that reaches across boundaries and other forms of difference. Two faculty-edited volumes (Kellerman & Rhode, Women & Leadership: The State of Play and Strategies for Change, Jossey-Bass, 2007, and Pittinsky, Crossing the Divide, Harvard Business School Press, 2009) evolved from these conferences.
